PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of the dog bone as well as the buckling, by pressing an object to be rolled by the upper and lower rolls at an intermediate part and both ends in the width direction of said object. CONSTITUTION:For the width direction control of a longitudinal roll 13 in accordance with the width of a material S to be rolled, a synchronizing operation is given to backup cylinders 39 and 51 in case when the plate width is increased for example. Then a frame 8 and a bevel gear box 46 are pulled in parallel. When the plate width is decreased, a driving device 37 is started to rotate and move forward the nuts 31, 30 and 49 of jacks 27, 26 and 47 respectively. When the roll 13 is set at a prescribed position of the width direction, a fluid pressure cylinder 17 is operated previously to move a roll chock 18 along a guide 19. Then both ends of the width direction of the material S is pressed from both upper and lower sides by means of edge part pressure rolls 20 and 21, and an up-down cylinder 25 is operated. Then the intermediate part of the width direction of the material S is supported at the upper and lower sides by an intermediate pressure roll 22. |
