METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TESTING LIFE OF BEARING

PURPOSE:To achieve an accurate life test preventing an accident such as damage to a driving shaft with a less bending stress developed thereon by generating a required radial load in response to a specified test radial load to be applied on a test bearing. CONSTITUTION:A load frame 6 having a pin shaft 6b on the vertical axis V and connected rotatably about the axis V to the tip of a connecting rod 9 arranged parallel above and below a driving shaft 2 through a bearing 8 and applies a thrust load on a test bearing 1 with a thrust load applying mechanism T as working on the other end of the rod 9. The driving shaft 2 supported overhung with a bearing device 10 is provided a radial support bearing 11 at the free end thereof and connected to a load applying mechanism S which applys an auxiliary radial load opposite to a test radial load. This allows appropriate adjustment of the relative inclination of an outer race from zero to a desired angle of rotation with respect to the inner race both about the vertical axis V and the horizontal axis H and a radial load or a combined load is applied on a bearing to test the life thereof.
