PURPOSE:To substantially increase a collecting angle and to bring a ralation between a scattering pulse height and a particle size into a montone, by a method wherein scatterong light, produced when a particle to be measured passes through the inside of a measuring volume, is collected by two or more collecting systems having the same measuring visual field. CONSTITUTION:A measuring volume 14 consists of a laser device 1, incident optical systems 2, 3, and collecting optical systems 4, 5, and collecting optical systems 4' and 5' are set so that they have the approximately same measuring volume as that of the measuring volume 14. If a particle to be measured enters the measuring volume 14, light is scattered to obtain a pulse signal produed by the two collecting optical systems, and the height of their respective signals is measured by crest measuring devices 8 and 8' to add it by means of an adder 9. A relation of the added pulse height to a particle size parameter alpha is brought to a monotous relation as shown in a curve diagram, and this permits the particle size to be fond easily ad highly precisely. |
