PURPOSE:To detect a crush from the amplitude of the signal that a CSS system magnetic head generates in crossing the area where the magnetic head is started and stopped while contacting to a disk medium, by previously writting a signal in the area. CONSTITUTION:A proper signal is written previously in an area 14 which adequately includes the inner slider A of a magnetic head 7 in a CSS zone 10. Then when the magnetic head 7 crushes, the magnetic head 7 moves from the position Ocyl of a disk medium 2 to the position C.S.S to cross the area 14, thereby obtaining an output waveform (a) when the head is normal and an output waveform (b) when crushing as shown in figures. Thus, the crushing is detected easily without decomposing the device. |
