PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium suitable for recording by vertical magnetization, by vacuum-depositing a Co-Cr alloy thin film while applying a magnetic field at right angles to a base surface. CONSTITUTION:A permanent magnet 1 magnetized at right angles to the surface of a base 5 such as a high polymer film is provided in contact with the surface of the base which does not face a vaporing source 4, and consequently while a magnetic field which becomes perpendicular to the base surface near the surface is applied, Co anc Cr is vaporized by the vaporing source 4 to vapor-deposit Co-Cr alloy on the base 5. |
