AN ELASTOMERIC RADAR ABSORBING MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION METHOD THEREOF

With the present invention, there is provided an elastomeric radar absorbing material (R) which is suitable to be attached to an outer surface of a platform and which absorbs incident electromagnetic wave and a method of manufacturing the same. The elastomeric radar absorbing material (R) comprises a base material (1 ) suitable to be attached to the outer surface of the platform and having a shape corresponding to the outer surface of the platform, and a first absorber layer (2) located on the base material (1 ) such that it is integral with the base material (1 ) and having the structure of an elastomer containing a dielectric and/or magnetic filler. Said manufacturing method comprises the steps of mixing an elastomer containing a dielectric and/or magnetic filler with a curing agent in order to form a first absorber layer (2); and attaching the resulting mixture, by vulcanization method, on a base material (1 ) suitable to be attached on the outer surface of the platform to which the elastomeric radar absorbing material (R) is to be attached and having a shape corresponding to the outer surface of the platform. The material (R) has a design method wherein its layers may be pre-determined based on the performance requirements.
