The invention relates to a device (1) for the 3D printing of a workpiece (6) from a powdered print material or from a print material consisting of liquid or viscous drops, cement, or adhesive-coated particles, which print material has a plurality of workpiece particles (4). The device (1) has a print head (2) comprising: a print material nozzle (7) which is configured to eject workpiece particles (4) of the print material such that said particles impinge on a work point (20); a radiation source (5) which is designed to generate a particle beam (11) and to direct said beam at the work point (20) such that workpiece particles (4) located at the work point (20) are fused or bonded to, or hardened onto a region of the workpiece (6) to be produced that has already been 3D printed; and in particular a suction nozzle (17) for suctioning out workpiece particles (4) that are not fused or bonded to, or hardened onto the workpiece (6), from the area surrounding the work point (20).
