PURPOSE:To obtain a vertical recording medium with high retentivity in a vertical direction and higher output for reproduction, by adding and containing Ni into a film of a Co-Cr binary composition. CONSTITUTION:The alloy material constituted of Cr 5-25%, Ni 1-25% and Co in the essential remnant at at% is formed into a magnetic recording layer. Thereby, the coercive force in a vertical direction to the medium surface can be sufficiently enlarged, thus sufficiently enlarging the output for reproduction from the vertical magnetized film. This alloy film of the magnetic recording layer can be manufactured also by e.g. an evaporation or ion implanting method other than a high frequency sputter method. |
