PURPOSE:To perform an easy inspection and to enable to miniaturize and simplify a device, by a method wherein the inside of a wheel is brought to a vacuum state, and detecting gas is jetted from the outside to detect the entrance of gas by the use of a leak detector. CONSTITUTION:A wheel 11 is set to a rest stand 13 in a manner that a weldment is turned upward, and the wheel 11 is moved to an inspecting position A through mevement of a feeder 12. With cylinders 19 and 20 actuated, blind paches 15 and 16 are moved, the wheel 11 is positioned between the nip formed by the two blind paches, and simultaneously, the inside of the wheel 11 is isolated from the air. The inside of the wheel 11 is then brought to a vacuum state. Thanks to a difference in pressure between an atmospheric pressure and a vacuum, the blind paches 15 and 16 press the wheel l1 with a strong force, but a pressure load is reduced thanks to contacting of a convex cylinder 36. A spray nozzle 34 is then lowered to start spraying of detecting gas, for example, helium gas. If there is a defect, gas is sucked into the wheel 11 through said defect, and the gas, reaching a leak detector through a piping 23, is detected with a high precision. |
