PURPOSE:To perform reliable operations to separate a paper and to assume a posture of a paper supply irrespective of a paper thickness, by constituting a feeder such that a separating member, whose coefficient of friction is smaller than that of a puckup roller for a copying machine and larger than that of a paper, is brought into contact with the pickup roller, and a supply means is located in the proximity of a separating member. CONSTITUTION:The papers P, pressed against a pickup roller 2 by a spring, are picked up by the pickup roller 2 to convey it in a direction B. If the papers P happen to be supplied in an overlapping manner, since a coefficient of friction of a member 7 for preventing a plural number of papers from simultaneous delivery is smaller than that of the pickup roller 2 and larger than that of the paper P, the papers other than the paper, contacting the pickup roller 2, are slipped between the papers and are held by the preventing member 7 to check advancing of them. Thus, only the paper at the pickup roller (2) side is separated for supply, and is immediately supplied between the nip formed by the roller 2 and a feed roller 12. This constitution prevents the papers from being supplied in a tilting manner, and causes them to be normally held in a correct posture and be separated irrespective of a paper thickness. |
