PURPOSE:To provide a thermal head which provides a simple way to detect an abnormal friction, by installing a detecting means, which can visually detect wearing of a wear resistant protection film, on said protection film formed on an oxidation resistant protection film on a heating resistor. CONSTITUTION:In case a wear resistant protection film 6, such as Ta2O5, is formed on an oxidation resistant protection film 5 formed on a heating resistor 5, the abnormal wear of the wear resistant protection film 6 can be detected visually through changing of the transmitting densities of the wear resistant protection film 6 and the oxidation resistant protection film 5. |
