PURPOSE:To increase both the utilization rate and the life of an electrode by using as a paste for the electrode, a matter prepared by leaving a mixture containing cobalt, a graphite and water to stand for at least a few hours while making the mixture in contact with air. CONSTITUTION:A pasted electrode is adopted as a nickel electrode. A paste for such a nickel electrode is composed of a nickel hydroxide and a carbonyl nickel powder which pass the sieve of 200 meshes, a graphite, acrylonitrile-vinylchloride copolymer fiber having a diameter of 0.1mm. and a length of 3-5mm., cobalt metal powder, and 3wt% aqueous carboxymethylcellulose solution. In preparing the paste, at first, water is added to a mixture consisting of the cobalt powder and the graphite among the above described materials, and thus prepared mixture is left to stand so as to dry it in two days while suppressing the vaporization of water. Here, the mixture is mixed slowly every two hours. As a result, the mixture changes in its color from light black to dark brown. After that, the dried mixture is lightly crushed, and the crushed mixture is combined with the other materials mentioned above so as to make the paste. |
