PURPOSE:To automatically exchange a tool in a tool magazine, by providing a spare tool exchanger to replace tools between the magazine and a spare tool storage rack which can be indexed to a tool exchange position. CONSTITUTION:Tools 2 are replaced between a main shaft 4 and a tool magazine 1 by a tool exchange arm 3. The tool magazine 1 sequentially indexes numerous tools 2 automatically, in accordance with a previously set program. The tool 2 indexed to a prescribed position by the magazine 1 is replaced with a tool on a spare tool storage rack 8 by a spare tool exchange arm 6. The rack 8 is moved relative to the arm 6. |
