PURPOSE:To obtain clean images by detecting the absolute value of pictorial image density by means of the amount of light obtained with optical scanning and converting the value into electric signals and storing them and by giving high contrast to pictorial images by extracting and amplifying components of the electric signals that exceed a threshold level. CONSTITUTION:The light from a laser light oscillator 1 is directed to a radiation penetration photograph 3 through an optical system 2. The optical system 2 scans light successivley by means of a driving device 27 in the directions of the arrangement of optical fibers 5 and 6 according to the output of a counter 24. Laser light that penetrates successively the radiation penetration photograph 3 is directed to the optical fibers 5 and 6, and it is converted into electric quantity by means of a photoelectric converter and amplifier 7 and the quantity is stored. From this electric quantity only signal that exceeds a predetermined level is extracted by a threshold value setting circuit 14 and amplified by an amplifier 15 to give high contrast to the photograph. |
