摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode plate having a large utilization rate of its active material by adding titanium nitride to the active material. CONSTITUTION:Titanium nitride (TiN) is added to an active material so as to give the active material a conductivity, thereby causing a larger proportion of the active material to contribute to electric-discharge reaction by giving an electronic conduction to every part of the active material, thereby enhancing the utilization rate of the active material. When titanium nitride is added to a negative plate, the utilization rate of the active material of the negative plate is enhanced, titanium nitride increases the binding strength among active-material particles and decreases the separation of the active material, and as a result, an electrode plate with a long life can be obtained. Even when titanium nitride is added to a positive plate, titanium nitride doesn't receive any oxidation during charging and doesn't lose its function. Here, after lead powder or a lead oxide is mixed with various kinds of additives of necessary, titanium nitride is added to the mixture so as to obtain an electrode plate. In addition, titanium nitride used in this invention has a specific resistance of around 10<-4>-10<-5>OMEGA.cm, and receives almost no corrosions in an oxidizing atmosphere. Therefore the function of titanium nitride continues over a long period, and an electrode plate with a long life is obtained.
