PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a watch body by covering a strongly alkaline liquid, which leakes out from a button-type alkaline battery used for various equipments such as a watch, into a harmless matter by interposing a fat having a saponifying ability between a negative can and a gasket. CONSTITUTION:In a button-type alkaline battery, a fat 4 saponified with an alkali is interposed between a negative can 1 and a gasket 3. The fat 4 employed in this invention, is oleic acid which is one of fatty acids. Application of the fat 4 is performed by taking advantage of capillary phenomena after measuring 10mg of the fat 4 by means of a dispenser. When an acceleration test was carried out under a high temperature and a high humidity of 60 deg.C and 90% after the fat 4 is applied to 50 batteries in such a way as mentioned above, a white emulsified matter was detected in the area 4 days after the start of the test. According to a check carried out by using the pH test paper and phenolphthalein solution, no alkalinities were detected in the white emulsified matter. It is estimated that KOH which had leaked out from the battieries was emulsified by being saponsified by oleic acid. |
