PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption of a DC-DC converter for an internal combustion engine or the like by operating the DC-DC converter connected to the secondary side of an ignition coil for a predetermined time. CONSTITUTION:When a transistor Q1 in a transistor circuit 2 is turned off, a single stable multivibrator 101 is triggered. The time width of the single stable multivibrator 101 is about 8-10msec. A gate circuit 103 has an oscillation output eO of an oscillating circuit 102 passed therethrough only in this time width so that a power transistor Q2 is turned on to drive a boosting transformer T1 and a rectifying circuit 104. Thus, a DC-DC converter 10 generates high voltage of about -2KV only for a predetermined time, so that the power consumption of the DC-DC converter is reduced. |
