<p>A machine frame for a circular saw (1) comprises a pair of parallel spaced plates (15, 21 and 43, 22) secured together by crosspieces (47 - 50). The plates have mutually opposed openings therethrough for feeding workpieces (3) transversely to the saw blade (1) carried between the frame plates on a slide (2). In a starting position of the slide (2), the saw blade (1) is protected from damage by a workpiece (3) either by being not exposed in the workpiece opening or by being protected by a workpiece stop (4) in the opening. The box-like frame is very rigid and not prone to bending and carries guide bars (42, 45) for the slide and clamps (13, 17) for the workpiece (3). The machine frame can be angled relative to the stop (4) to enable mitre cutting of the workpiece. <IMAGE></p> |
