Molecular formula: C8H4O3S2, melting point >=300 deg.C; UV spectrum, 216+ or -2nm; IR spectrum (cm<-1>) 3,450, 2,960, 2,920, 1,630, 1,660, 1,525, 1,480, 1,440, 1,385, 1,310, 1,250, 1,180, 1,120, 1,070, 1,015, 885, 840, 655, 580, and 460; solubility soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, DMF, and pyridine, rather slightly soluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, methanol, and ethanol, slightly soluble in water, and hexane; color reaction positive in FeCl3, and KMnO4; negative in ninhydrin, Dragendorff, and Ehrlich reaction; appearance yellowish orange, acidic. USE:An antibacterial agent. PROCESS:A bacterium (FERM P 6513) belonging to the genus Psdudomonas, capable of producing antibiotic CB-104, is cultivated in a medium, and a the yielded material is accumulated and collected.</p> |
