In melting, purifying, and molding a glass forming composition of netal silicates in the form of glass, amorphous metal silicates, which have the formula SiO/MeO, were prepd. without metal impurity. A solution of alkali metal silicates and a solution of metallic salts, which have the formual MeA(Me is one of Pb, Zn, Ca, and Ba. A is a residual radical of acids), was reacted to substitute the metal oxide of alkali metal silicates with MeO, so that the mole ratio of SiO/MeO would be in the range from 2 to 5.
