The invention relates to a method of determining the end cut on thermomechanically rolled sheets taking into account permissible yield point values. To minimize the sheet end length to be separated, it is proposed that directly after the levelling of the rolled sheet the length of the end to be separated is determined on-line as a function of the surface temperature profile of the sheet, which is preferably generated without contact with the sheet itself.
