PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive silver halide improved in long term storage stability and photographic characteristics, by introducing into a specified solvent a liquid reaction product contg. a polymer obtd. by reacting an org. halogen compd. with an org. aliphatic acid silver salt dispersed into an org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive silver halide for use in a thermodevelopable photosensitive material is formed by stoichiometrically reacting an org. aliphatic acid silver salt (a) dispersed into an org. solvent (b) in a state of liquid suspension dispersion with an org. halogen compd., and at that time, a polymer (d) has been dissolved in the solvent (b) since before the reaction in advance, or is dissolved after the reaction. This liquid reaction product contg. the polymer (d) is added into a solvent (e) having compatibility with the solvent (b) but precipitating the polymer (d), resulting in precipitating the polymer (d) including the photosensitive silver halide. The org. sliphatic acid silver salt (a) is hardly soluble or insoluble in org. solvents, and it is prefered to use a >=5C aliphatic acid silver salt. |
