PURPOSE:To make multi-color display possible, by subdividing guest-host (GH) liquid crystal having different hues and electrooptical characteristics and sealing and by controlling voltage applied to the GH liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:Vertically orienting layers 3 are provided to a substrate 1 for displaying reflection shape having a switching element on each picture element and a glass plate 2 having a transparent electrode. A UV curing type sealing agent is applied to the whole surface of the substrate 2 and the substrate is adhered with the other substrate 1. They are exposed in such a way that the part except a partitioning member 4 is not irradiated by UV, and the sealing agent except at the partitioning part is removed before curing, two kinds of GH liquid crystals 5, 6 are injected one after another into the space to obtain a liquid crystal panel. The GH liquid crystals 5, 6 are made to be chiral nematic liquid crystal and the hue can be changed by changing a dye and the electrooptical characteristics can be changed by changing the chiral pitch. In this panel a red violet, which is a color of a GH liquid crystal of positive dielectric anisotropy at the state of no voltage impression, is made colorless by an impression of 4V, further changed to green, which is a color of a GH liquid crystal of negative dielectric anisotropy, by an impression of 6V. |
