PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently prevent a reduction in optical characteristics, such as transmittance of the p-wave and transmittance of the s-wave to sufficiently reduce reflectance of the s-wave regarding a wire grid polarizer.SOLUTION: In a polarizer 6 limiting transmission of an electromagnetic wave to be incident according to a plane of polarization, a plurality of metal linear parts 11 formed of a metal material are arranged at an interval in a direction of a line width that is equal to or less than the minimum wavelength of a wave length band in which transmission is limited, and blackened layers 11A and 11B are provided at least at one end in a thickness direction of each of the metal linear parts 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
