PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a rotary head device, by providing a cleaning means at the outer circumference part of a rotor to clean the recording surface of a magnetic tape and avoiding a read/write error of information due to the mixture of foreign matters. CONSTITUTION:A writing magnetic head 3 and a reading magnetic head 4 are provided with a prescribed space on the outer circumference surface of a rotor 1 which is revolved at a high speed via a spindle 2, and guide cylinders 5 and 6 are set at upper and lower parts of the rotor 1. A magnetic tape 21, i.e., a reording medium is wound spirally round a rotary head device as shown by chain lines 7 and then driven. The heads 3 and 4 scan the recording surface of the tape 21 in a locus shown by a chain line 20 to write or read the information. In this case, opening parts 13 and 14 also travel along the line 20. A vertical hole 10 of the rotor 1 is sucked by a vacuum sucking pump, and therefore the air around the heads 3 and 4 is sucked by lateral holes 11 and 12 through the parts 13 and 14. Thus the foreign matters sticking on the recording surface of the tape 21 are removed together with the air. |
