PURPOSE:To obtain a soft fibrous plate with an uneven pattern, having a high commercial value, with good productivity by a method in which moisture is given to a wet mat immediately after being manufactured to disentangle the fibers of the wet mat, and under the condition, an uneven pattern is provided to the wet mat. CONSTITUTION:A vegetable or mineral fiber slurry 4 is supplied to the pad of a mat making machine to form a wet mat 5. Water or an aqueous dilute solution of a binder is supplied onto the surface of the wet mat 5 from a spray nozzle 7 to raise the water content ratio of the mat 5, whereby forming a surface layer where fibers are disentangled and liable to very highly plastic deformation. The wet mat 5 is sent to a belt or netting-shaped sheet 6 with an uneven pattern and pressed by a press roll 3 to given an uneven pattern to the surface of the mat while dewatering it. Afterwards, the mat 5 is dried to obtain a soft fibrous plate with uneven pattern. |
