PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus having such a configuration and structure that can give high contrast to a virtual image observed by an observer and let the observer safely move in a real environment.SOLUTION: A display apparatus comprises: (A) a frame 11; (B) an image display device 100; and (C) a light control device 700 which adjusts a light amount of external light incident from the outside. The image display device 100 comprises: (a) an image formation unit 111; and (b) an optical unit 120 which has a virtual image formation region where a virtual image is formed on the basis of the light incident from the image formation unit. The virtual image formation region 140 of the optical unit 120 is overlapped with the light control device 700. When the virtual image is formed in a portion of the virtual image formation region 140 on the basis of the light emitted from the image formation unit 111, the light control device 700 is controlled so that a light shielding rate of a virtual image projection region of the light control device 700 including a projection image of the virtual image to the light control device 700 becomes higher than the light shielding rate of another region of the light control device 700.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
