PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary encoder that can reduce the amount of an oblique light which passes through a code board and can suppress reduction in accuracy of detecting a rotational angle due to the oblique light.SOLUTION: The rotary encoder includes: a light emitting element 10 emitting light; a code board 11 connected to a rotating body; and a light receiving element 12 detecting light from the light emitting element 10 which has passed through the code board 11. The code board 11 has identical code patterns 110, 111 at the front and back surfaces, and the back surface has a closing part 111a blocking passage of at least a part of an oblique light 10b having passed through an opening part 110b at the front surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
