PURPOSE:To hasten the uprising of defrosting and heating during the cold season by connecting a heat exchanger of a high hydrogen equilibrium decomposition pressure on the heat discharge side with a heat exchanger of a low hydrogen equilibrium decomposition pressure on the open air side through a valve in a heater using metal hydrides for defrosting and heating. CONSTITUTION:During the usual operation, the first heat exchanger 1 filled with a metal hydride MH1 of a low hydrogen equilibrium decomposition pressure is heated by the indoor air heated by absorption of waste heat of the engine, and the second heat exchanger 2 is heat-exchanged with the open air to cool a metal hydride MH2 of a high hydrogen equilibrium decomposition pressure. Whereupon, hydrogen is given off from MH1 and occluded into MH2 to complete the preparation for heating. During the cold season under the condition, the MH2 of the second heat exchanger 2 is heated by the open air to give off hydrogen, the hydrogen is occluded into the MH1 of the first heat exchanger 1 to cause heat output to generate in the first heat exchanger 1 for compensating for the heat discharge of the engine. The uprising of the defrosting and heating during the cold season can thus be hastened. |
