PURPOSE:To specify the position of an original before turning over its read surface by processing a value indicated by a cursor into a value in an original inverted state through an operational processing corresponding to the front/ rear inversion of the original. CONSTITUTION:The original is set with its read surface up and an area 2 is specified by four cursors 3; the positions of the cursors in a main scanning direction are denoted as m1 and m2, and those in a subscanning direction are denoted as s1 and s2. In this state, an image sensor makes a scan on an optical image. At this time, an optical system forms optical images of lower end parts of cursors 3A and 3B on the image sensor. Then counted values corresponding to the positions m1 and m2 of the cursors 3A and 3B are stored in a memory circuit. Then, an operator repeats the operation so that the front-side end of the original 1 is at the back side. A read of the original 1 is then started. The counted values stored in the memory circuit are processed to obtain a main- scanning-directional area indication signal and the area 2 is read. |
