PURPOSE:To improve safety of thionyl chloride-lithium cell, by providing a safety valve device of thin-walled groove structure on the cell cover or the cell case. CONSTITUTION:A stainless steel top cover 2 is welded to a stainless steel case 1, also serving as the negative pole, of a thionyl chloride-lithium cell of spiral structure, the cover 2 being provided with a thin-walled groove portion 3 serving as a safety valve disposed thereon concentrically. The thin-walled groove portion is provided at the same time as the cover is formed by press work, and it is finished to the size, 0.2mm. wide and 0.02mm. thick, in the base matal being 0.4mm. thick. Therefore, the thin-walled portion readily breaks with the increase in the internal pressure to release the internal pressure to the outside. Further, the width of the groove, the thickness of the thin-walled portion, or the shape of the groove can be changed to preset the breaking pressure at a desired pressure value. |
