PURPOSE:To enable the high sensitivity analysis subjected to vapor deposition of gold for collecting mercury vapor reduced and evaporated in a reaction vessel and a power source for supplying a current to said filament. CONSTITUTION:A mercury analytical apparatus utilizing atomic absorption forms a recirculation system starting a reactor 1 and again reaching the reactor 1 through a trap 2, an absorption cell 3 and a pump 4. A light source 5 and a light receiver 6 are arranged to both ends of the absorption cell 3 and coil shaped nichrome wires each subjected to gold vapor deposition are inserted into the trap 2 comprising a U-shaped glass tube through two electrodes welded with glass. Mercury in a specimen is reduced in the reactor 1 by the addition of a reducing agent and collected in the trap 2 along with the movement of the gas in the system by operating the pump 4. The recirculation system is converted to an open system by manipulating a cock and the atomic absorption measurement in the absorption cell 3 is brought to an operative state. The electrodes of the trap 2 supply constant electric power from a power source 7 and operate the pump 4 while the generated mercury vapor is sent to the absorption cell 3 to measure the absorbancy. |
