Process for the treatment of blood with a view to its preservation in liquid form. The process comprises the addition to the blood of an anticoagulating agent, particularly citrate and/or phosphate ions, and a body containing sulphur and oxygen of the metabisulphite type so as to obtain between those two bodies a synergic action for destroying and/or inhibiting at least partially the growth of germs in the blood. The invention may be applied for the treatment of blood in slaughter houses and to allow the handling and possibly the storage of the blood in liquid form. |
