PURPOSE:To omit the requirement for providing an encoder plate separately and to make the encoder compact, by using one end part of coil strands forming a coil unit, which is to become the rotor of a coreless motor, as a reflecting surface. CONSTITUTION:A coil unit 16 is coupled into a tubular yoke 17. A magnet 18 is provided in the inside of the unit 16. The coil unit 16 is used as a rotor of a cup type coreless motor. The light emitted from a light emitting element 5 is reflected by each coil strand 1, which forms the upper end part of the outer surface of the rotating coil unit 16 and received by a light receiving element 6 through a slit 3. The coil elements 1 are closely arranged in parallel. Insulating layers are provided between coil strands 1. Therefore, the amount of the reflected light is changed every time the light moves to the neighboring coil strand 1, and the number of the light reception time can be measured. |
