摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress the increase of an operation quantity, and to eliminate a calculation error of defocusing by extracting or synthesizing at least three pieces or more of arithmetic processing signal trains, calculating successively a focusing signal by use of two pieces among them, and discriminating the focusing state of a photographic lens from at least >=2 kinds of focusing signals. CONSTITUTION:A focusing state is decided by dividing a pupil of an image forming optical system, detecting electrically an image forming luminous flux being an image of an object to be photographed, whick is emitted from each pupil area, by a photoelectric converting element array, extracting or synthesizing an arithmetic processing signal train consisting of a smaller number of data than the number of this output value from this detecting output value, and executing the arithmetic processing by using it. In this case, at least there pieces or more of the arithmetic processing signal trains are extracted or synthesized, and a focusing signal is operated by use of two pieces among these signal trains. This arithmetic is executed by at least two kinds of different combinations, so that a focusing state of a photographic lens is discriminated by these results.
