PURPOSE:To perform an accurate envelope processing, by checking whether a regular envelope is inserted in a regular direction or not with a simple constitution and accepting the envelope only when the regular envelope is inserted in the regular direction. CONSTITUTION:One end of an envelope 2 is opened, and a partially notched cover piece is provided there. A print column where data should be printed by an envelope printer 6 is provided in the opposite-side end part of the envelope 2, and a mark is added preliminarily in a corner part in the position slightly separated from the open end. When the envelope 2 is pressed to an insertion entrance 16 and the mark reaches the position just under a detector S1, the output of the detector S1 becomes low-level. When the open end of the envelope 2 is brought into contact with a shutter 24, the output of the detector S1 becomes high-level. Thus, only when the regular envelope with the mark is inserted to the insertion entrance 16 in the regular direction to attain a detection pulse of the mark within a prescribed time, the shutter 24 is opened to receive the envelope 2 in a storage box 4. |
