PURPOSE:To effectively carry out the discharge of extra air in an internal-combustion engine of multi-cylinder type having a part of cylinders which may be used as compressors and the exhaust passages of which are communicated with a pressure type air pipe through a selector valve, by incorporating a relief valve in the selector valve. CONSTITUTION:In an internal-combustion engine having a cylinder 10 which may be used as a compressor upon resting thereof, fuel cut-off valves 3, 4 are closed, when the cylinder 10 is used as the compressor, so that the feed of fuel to a fuel injection pump 1 is ceased. Further, a compressed air A discharged from the cylinder 10 is blocked by an exhaust brake valve disposed in an intake-air passage 22 to inhibit the compressed air A from flowing into the exhaust pipe port side, and is transferred under pressure to an air tank 24 through an exhaust passage selector valve 5 and a pressure type air pipe 7. A releif valve 6 which is opened when the pressure of the transferred compressed air reaches a predetermined high pressure, is incorporated in a part of the exhaust pipe selector valve 5 so that the degree of discharge of high pressure air from an air-bleed valve 6 is decreased, thereby duct entrance through the valve 8 is prevented. |
