PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency in the case of painting the outside circumferential edge parts of plate materials having steps on the outside circumferential edge parts by stacking the plate materials while interposing masking tapes so as to expose the parts to be painted to the outside, then coating the materials while grasping and holding said materials. CONSTITUTION:A masking tape 11 is pasted over the entire surface on the front side of a plate material P having a stepped surface D, and the plate is placed via a receiving tray 12 on the receiving block 3 of a turntable 1. The plate material P pasted with the tape 11 in a similar manner is stacked thereon, and a press plate 14 is put via a cushion material 13 on the material P in the uppermost stage. A rod 4A of a clamping cylinder 4 is thereupon extended to grasp the entire material P between the member 5 and the block 3. A motor 2 is then driven to rotate the table 1 and a paint is sprayed with a spray gun 6 to paint the surfaces D of the entire material P.
