PURPOSE:To increase a filtration capacity, to reduce clogging, and to prevent generation of vortex in a Y-shaped strainer, by constructing an opening part of a screen in such a manner that the upper part thereof comes nearer to the inlet side of the strainer body so that an inclination is formed between the inlet face and the center line of the strainer. CONSTITUTION:The body 8 of the Y-shaped strainer is constructed by welding a pair of metallic pipe 6, 7 wherein the inside of the pipe 6 is for the main passage 1 and the inside of another pipe 7 is for the space for holding a screen 2. The liquid introduced from an inlet 9 is filtered at a part (e) where the screen holding space 2 crosses the main passage 1 among the whole filtration surface of the screen 3, and flows out through the outlet 10. Since the opening part 4 of the screen 3 is made to slant the center line P of the screen by bringing its upper part 5 nearer to the inlet 9, the area of the crossing part (e) is made larger than the conventional construction. Accordingly a larger effective filtration area is secured. Further, generation of vortex can be prevented because a larger inclination angle in the rising direction of the opening part is adoptable.
