PURPOSE:To heat efficiently a molten iron without spoiling operability with a simple and inexpensive installation by feeding under pressure an additive material which has a large calorific value of oxidation and is preliminarily melted and is held in a hermetic vessel into the molten iron and blowing O2 into the molten iron. CONSTITUTION:An additive material 4 which has the large reaction heat of oxidation and is melted in another melting furnace is held in a hermetic vessel 3 disposed alongside a ladle 1 in which a molten iron 2 is contained. The other end part of a hollow member 9 of an inverted U-shape of which the one end part is dipped in the material 4 is dipped into the molten iron 2 by lowering the vessel 3, and thereafter pressurized gas such as gaseous Ar is fed into the vessel 3 through a piping 7 to pressurize the inside of the vessel 3, thereby feeding and adding the material 4 through the member 9 into the molten iron 2. Gaseous O2 is blown through a lance 10 into the molten iron 2 during and/or after the addition thereof. The oxidation reaction of the material 4, for example, Al is then caused in the iron 2, and the molten iron 2 is heated by the reaction heat generated at this stage. |
