PURPOSE:To determine arginine or arginase in a specimen, rapidly and accurately, by contacting the specimen with a composition containing reduced-type pyridinenucleotide coenzyme, etc., and measuring the change in the amount of said coenzyme. CONSTITUTION:The specimen to be examined is made to contact with a composition containing ornithine-keto-acid aminotransferase, pyrroline-5-carboxylic acid reductase, alpha-ketoglutaric acid, reduced-type pyridinenucleotide coenzyme and one of arginase and arginine, and the change in the amount of the reduced- type pyridinenucleotide coenzyme is determined by measuring the change in the absorbance near 340nm wavelength or the intensity of fluorescence.
