PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having improved lubricity, wear resistance and durability by forming a layer of a surface treating agent on the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film on a support using a specified organosilane compound so as to stick firmly the layer to the magnetic thin film. CONSTITUTION:A soln. prepd. by dissolving a compound represented by the formula[where n is 0, 1 or 2, each of R and R' is H or 1-10C hydrocarbon, R'' is 6-30C hydrocarbon or ClF2l+1(CH2)m, l is 4-16, and m is 2-18] in ''Freon'', toluene, hexane or the like is coated on the surface of a ferromagnetic metallic thin film on a support to form a layer of a surface treating agent contg. about 0.5-100mg/m<2> organosilane compound. Thus, a magnetic recording medium maintaining its lubricity for a long term and having superior wear resistance and durability is obtd. |
