A novel binder composition for foundry sand molds or cores comprises (a) an organic polyisocyanate compound and (b) a certain polyol compound selected from a formaldehyde-modified bisphenol and a formaldehydemodified cyclic ketone, or a partially alkoxylated derivatives of the polyol compound, the ratio of the component (a) to the component (b) being in the specific range.
