PURPOSE:To prepare a catalyst for converting org. compds., particularly, for prepg. ethylene and p-xylene simultaneously and with high efficiency by calcining a specified crystalline borosilicate at a specified temp. CONSTITUTION:Crystalline borosilicate expressed by the general formula: PR2/n O.xB2O3.SiO2 [wherein P is 0<P<=0.08; R is H, ammonium ion or organoammonium cation; (n) is a valency of R; (x) is 0<x<=0.08] is mixed with a binder (e.g. hydrated alumina gel), molded and then calcined at 600-1,100 deg.C. Conversion reactions of org. compds., particularly, a reaction of methanol and/or dimethyl ether with toluene to produce ethylene and p-xylene simultaneously and efficiently are carried out by using the obtd. catalyst. |
