The concrete cladding block (1) is intended for a dam or breakwater and has a largely rectangular shape with parallel flat upper (2) and lower surfaces. The blocks are placed on the slope of the dam either at a random or in bonded pattern, in which latter case they are placed in parallel horizontal rows (A-Cetc) such that the blocks in each row (e.g.B) are spaced (6) and the spaces are bridged by blocks of the adjoining row(s) (A,C). - The sides (8,9) of each block are chamfered at the corners to form inclined mutual contact faces (7) between the respective blocks of adjoining rows. The blocks may have lateral projections (11) arranged on opposite sides near their bottom surfaces and/or cavities (13) extending between their top (2) and bottom surfaces.
