PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive printer provided with a picture reading section while keeping the printer same in size as that of a conventional printer by providing the picture reading means reading an upper part of a print head onto a carriage of the print head. CONSTITUTION:A reading member comprising an image sensor 10, a lens 11 and an electric lamp 13 is fixed to a carriage stand 3 while being kept to a prescribed position with a frame 14. This image sensor 10 is arranged so as to read picture information of a reading area 12 at the upper part of the print head 9 through the lens 11. Since the center of the reading area 12 is coincident with the center of a print section of a print element section 9a in the direction of sub- scanning in this case, the print position from a print paper end and the reading position from an original end part are unchanged and the control of a control section 1 to the carriage stand 3 is simplified. |
