On a channel of rectangular cross-section, the side walls (2) are bent round at the end to form a groove-shaped collar (3). To stiffen the channel corners, corner angle pieces (7), which have two legs (8) extending at right angles, are retained on the inside in the groove bottom of the collar (3) by bosses (10) which are produced by means of a shaping tool and which, projecting inwards on the collar outer edge (5) and on the opposite channel side wall (2), engage over the leg (8) at the edge. Moreover, in a direction perpendicular thereto, a pressure embossing (11), jointly involving the collar (3) and the leg (8) of the corner angle piece (7), is formed in such a way that the collar (3) and leg (8) engage in one another at the embossing point for the purpose of fixing the leg (8). As a result of this flanged construction, a simple method for producing a continuous connecting flange by the use of the known corner angle pieces (7) becomes possible. <IMAGE>
