The linear push device has two motors (10, 50). The motor (10) drives the screw spindle (11) directly. The motor (50) drives, via a toothed-belt mechanism (13, 51, 52), a rotatably mounted drive tube (14), in which the nut (15) connected to the push rod (40) is mounted so as to be axially displaceable. When the two motors have the same direction of rotation and they drive the screw spindle (11) and the drive tube respectively at the same rotational speed, the speed of advance of the push roller (40) is equal to zero. Depending on whether one of the two motors runs more quickly or more slowly, the push rod (40) is advanced or retracted. The speed of advance is proportional to the difference in rotational speed between the screw spindle (11) and the nut (15). It can therefore be regulated very sensitively between standstill, advance or retraction, full power being available from the outset. <IMAGE>
