PURPOSE:To minimize the distance between the billet and seal piston, to prevent tilting of discard and to prevent danger of complete extrusion by leading pressure medium accumulated behind the billet into the seal piston in high temperature hydrostatic extrusion. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 is fitted to a die 9, and a high temperature billet 11 having a conical part of the shape that conforms to the shape of approach part of the die is put in the container 1. A plastic pressure medium 10 in the container is pressed to raise pressure through a seal piston 5 and the billet 11 is extruded from an inner hole 9B of the die 9 as a rodlike body 12. Just before completion of extrusion, the moving of a stopper 4 in the through hole 5C of a pressure stem 3 and the seal piston 5 is stopped or moved in opposite direction to form a pressure medium container 5D. The pressure medium 10 is led into the container 5D and the length (l) of the pressure medium is made extremely small. Position of discard 11A is fixed to prevent tilting. |
