PURPOSE:To enhance ink acceptance and to prevent stains on a background by using a specified hardening agent in applying a physical development nucleus layer onto a silver halide emulsion layer overlaid on an antihalation layer applied onto a support. CONSTITUTION:An antihalation layer and a silver halide emulsion layer are laminated in succession on a support by coating, and after drying the coat, it is further coated with a physical development nucleus layer. An aldehyde type hardening agent is added in an amt. of 20-80mg per 1g of a binder to the coating soln. used for forming these layers. The coating soln. used for forming the development nucleus layer contains 30-70wt% of this total hardening agent. The printing material thus obtained is enhanced in film strength, small in liquid absorptivity, and good in the hydrophilicness of a silver image, and it can be used as a printing plate superior in ink acceptance. The use of this hardening agent not only improves said printing characteristics, but eliminates the hardening action with the lapse of time and retains stable photographic characteristics and physical properties after preparation of a printing material because sufficient film hardness is obtained by using only a small amt. of it. |
